Rainstorms

 South Carolina has the best rainstorms. 

And when it rains, we sit on the porch. To watch. 

It's mesmerizing.

It's calming.

When I left South Carolina, and when it rained, two-year-old Leo, had to sit on the porch and watch the rain. He'd become accustomed to the beauty of rainstorm watching. 

It's something parents don't always take time to do with their children.

This is in part why grandparents are so important. Our pace is slower. Our goals are few. We tend to see the big picture of peace and love. We don't have to worry about bedtime and potty training.

When there was a beautiful storm tonight,  we all moved to the porch--to watch the rain and wind. 

Together, we were soothed and charmed. Southern charmed.
